Scott Crosby

Scott started his privacy career with the federal government in 1983, when the public sector Privacy Act was still under debate in the House of Commons. In the years since, he has worked continually in the privacy field, including a period of service as the Access to Information and Privacy Coordinator for the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans. Since embarking on a privacy consulting career in 1998, Scott has gained considerable and diverse experience in assisting public and private sector organizations to comply with Canadian privacy laws. He has participated in the performance of over one hundred (100) Privacy Impact Assessments, has delivered hundreds of hours of privacy training and has managed thousands of requests for access to and/or correction of personal information and related privacy complaints/investigations. Scott is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/G), certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals.


Rick Shields

Rick is co-author of The Law of Privacy in Canada (Carswell) and author or co-author of many articles and papers dealing with Canadian privacy law issues. Rick advises international and domestic clients, in both the public and private sectors, respecting the legal and policy implications of federal and provincial privacy laws in Canada. He has appeared as featured speaker or panelist at numerous conferences dealing with privacy issues. During the past three years, Rick has participated in the performance of over one hundred (100) privacy impact assessments for government, NGO and private sector clients.
